How to find happiness after Divorce?
Going through a life change can be overwhelming. I believe things change in our lives because it is time for us to grow. We often resist what's happening. We try to control things. We want to steer results our way. We are attached to who we used to be, and we miss how things were.
Change can come in the form of divorce and separation. This is traumatic, but more so if the other party express their pain outwardly, and thus, create extra suffering.
If this is happening, we would not only be dealing with our loss and change, we also have to manage the pain externalised by the other party.
Ask yourself these questions:
What has led to this change?
What do I already know?
What can I learn from this?
What resources do I already have?
Divorce and separation shift our life path. We did not imagine life would look so different. A large amount of stress and distress results from our resistance to change. It is hard to see the wood for the trees. This is where I can help. Having been through this experience myself. What helped me are my core values: Learning, Understanding and Self-Actualisation.
The German-Swiss poet, Hermann Hesse said: 'love your suffering. Do not resist it, do not flee from it, it is only your aversion to it that hurts, nothing else.'
